So There I Was
Aviations Best Stories
The harrowing and hilarious stories from the pilots, attendants and mechanics that have helped build, maintain and move aviation to what it is today.

About The Why
Missing The Point
In this age of instant information often we are inundated with stories of plane crashes and unruly passengers. Aviation has a much deeper and interesting story than that. Our goal is to recapture the best stories, the tales from above the clouds - that motivated aviations best to throw their chains aside and risk the boundlessness of the sky. This undertaking has weighed on my mind and my heart for many years and its about time to make it come to fruition. I'm afraid that many of aviation's best stories are slowly becoming obsolete - no worse than that - lost. With each year that passes the men and women that formed and grew what we know of aviation today are leaving the industry or passing on - taking with them stories and experiences that should be preserved and retold. That is where this book comes in. My hope is to save the industries best to be retold over and over, much like the fighter pilot stories of old.
So There I Was vol.1
We are looking to find and compile the best stories from the everyday pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, rampers, FBOs, and anyone directly associated with aviation. They could funny, scary, educational, coming of age, anything really! Depending on the amount of stories we receive will determine how many make the first edition, but we are aiming for a baseline of at least 50. Other than helping to preserve our fascinating history and inspiring the next generations of aviation enthusiasts - any story that makes it in the published book will receive dividends from all book sales of the edition in which they are featured.
